Styled in Fields of Gold
Once when her sister told Shonda Rhimes that she never says yes to anything, she decided to say YES to anything new or things that she was afraid of. In her book “Year Of Yes”, she detailed how it brought her so much joy and helped with her anxiety. There is so much joy and contentment in doing things differently, to step out of your comfort zone.
In a similar vein, I said yes to this sweet collaboration where I had no idea what to expect. And man, was I glad to have said yes to it! So when the ever-so-talented Charli asked if I model for photoshoots, I said “I Do” and we decided to do an as-yet unprecedented photoshoot. This was not the first time that I was a part of a photoshoot where I was the muse. But it was my first where I had not created a mood board, where I did not know exactly what the final pictures would look like.?!
This was a very special photoshoot for us at Shoulders of Gold as this photoshoot brought forth the people who are usually behind the camera, calling the shots. It was a great experience which made me realize that beauty comes from unexpected places. I was as curious as you are.
Joel and I, my partner in crime for this shoot, were taken into this gorgeous field in Stirling, Scotland, at 9 PM which happened to be the golden hour. Charli truly brought to life the famous old saying “Make hay while the sun shines” and did her magic. The pictures turned out to be works of art, as you can see. They celebrate the most raw and breath-taking beauty that nature has to offer. These beautiful portraits also celebrate the most special and unparalleled bond of friendship that Joel and I share for over 7 years now.
For the composition of these pictures, Charlie decided to go with earthy colors and tones. The brown of the earth coupled with a dusty blue sky, complimented with dreamy green hues that Joel and I wore. I donned an olive green jumpsuit with a belt cinching the waist, which is now part my signature style. While Joel wore an all green button up shirt with charcoal grey formal trousers. My hair was styled to embrace my natural waves and curls and letting it go with the wind, bringing in that nostalgia of a maiden in the field.
I truly cherished working with everyone involved in this photoshoot and it made me feel like I was in a painting.
Let us know in the comments below, what is that one painting that you would like to recreate and where?
