Designing & Styling a dear friend for her big day!

This time of the year is my favorite because of the festive cheer and the celebration mood everywhere. Weddings just make it so much better and with the ongoing wedding season, it is a sheer delight to see the varieties of bridal wear designs and how the whole look is brought to life with styling.

I love designing outfits and more than that I love styling those outfits, but my most favorite thing is dressing a bride for her wedding day.

Designing a wedding trousseau is a magical experience. I cherish every bit of it, more so, when the bride is someone like Ann. She was so clear about what she wanted right from the start, and she completely trusted us with what she did not know. This is what she had to say about her experience with us -

“When I knew I wanted something minimal for my wedding lehenga, I knew I wasn't going to find it at the typical bridal stores (so much bling!) Liz and Lisha were such lifesavers. They really went the extra mile and they both have a great eye for detail. Firstly, the tone of colour they picked was gorgeous. Everyone loved how it looked against my skin and it really almost felt like I was GLOWING!”

“I had also been working out and we realized that my measurements would change by the time the wedding comes around. The corset-style close to the blouse was such a genius idea to counter that and it was a million times more comfortable too. They were really accommodating with changes throughout the process and I loved the little personal touches like the structured lilies at the back!”

“When I tried on the outfit completely for the first time at home, I was absolutely enamored with how it looked. It was literally perfect and it just captured me as a person! And on the day of the wedding, I felt so beautiful, elegant and confident.

I had so much fun working with them and I'm thrilled with how it all came together! Beyond grateful for the work they put in.”

Ann’s brief about designing a minimalist wedding outfit and her complete trust in me allowed us the creative freedom which made the whole process so easy and fun. When I say us, I mean Lisha and I, my partner in crime who helped bring the vision to life through garment construction, deconstruction and the works!

For the wedding, Ann picked a lovely ivory lace saree with intricate bead work on the border and we designed a matching blouse with a soft sweetheart neckline and elbow length sleeves as per what would be most flattering for her.

For her jewellery, Ann wanted something minimal and elegant and went for a timeless crystal tennis necklace and matching bracelet and crystal studs to finish the look.

The best part about this ensemble was the veil that was designed keeping in mind Ann’s evergreen love for flowers which we wanted to incorporate as part of her wedding outfits one way or another.

The veil included 3-d layered flowers with a gathered net and hair comb.

To say that she looked like a dream would be an understatement. Ann’s fiance at the time, now husband Rohit couldn’t take his eyes off of her and so couldn’t we. She gracefully carried a no-make-up make-up look and finished the look with her tan wedges. Her hair with its gorgeous curls have a personality of their own and she had a wonderful team help make those curls glisten in the sun.

The wedding was followed by a reception and we all agreed on a gorgeous wine red for her lehenga. Keeping up with her love for flowers, her choli was a wine red, raw silk, scooped V-neck 3/4th sleeve corset style blouse with structured lilies for the dori at the back. The lehenga was a high waist A-line lehenga designed and crafted to perfection by Lisha and yours truly.

Styling an outfit as beautiful as this lehenga and a bride as glowing as Ann was a breeze. With her favorite accessory, Rohit on her arm and an unadulterated joyous smile, there was little accessorizing needed. A silver geometric choker and her hair left to its own glory completed this wedding reception look.

A happy and understanding couple adds grace and beauty to their outfits. Let us know in the comments which of the two is your favorite bridal look of the season or what would you like your bridal wear to be? Till then let us enjoy this wedding season with happy couples and food for the soul.
