A shoot from a place called home!
As our country faces this deadly second wave with most of us locked up in our homes for our safety, we want to send our sincere prayers to everyone fighting this and to those who have lost their loved ones. Our heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, health care staff, and the front-line workers who have kept things running thus far.
This shoot was shot entirely at home. The hair, make-up, lighting, photography was all handled by yours truly and, of course, my dear friend and photographer Joel Sandeep. No studios- just the terrace, sunlight and the garden. This is as real as it gets.
The purpose of this shoot was to get creative with things already available in one’s wardrobe. These difficult times can be creatively crippling and we are trying to shake things up, get out of the rut and get things moving.
Our first look, is a leopard-print skater skirt repurposed as a tube top. The best part of this look is that you will never be able to guess that this is, in fact, a skirt. It fits impeccably as a top. We paired it with a pair of classic straight cut faded denims.
This simple look is easy to recreate with a twist of your own. The accessorizing involved a mustard colored shirt as a shrug and some chunky gold-plated link chains. A faux crocodile-skin sling bag in brown compliments the whole look perfectly.
This outfit required the most minimal make-up consisting of a muted mauve lipstick and a slight shimmer of an eye shadow with soft beach waves for the hair finishes the look.
For the second look, we played with a vintage print silk-satin scarf worn as a top, tied at the back. We absolutely loved this look. It looks fresh, stylish, and chic all at the same time. The scarf as a top is a trend to cash in on.
The same high rise classic faded denim fits perfectly with this “top”. A rattan cross body sling bag adds subtlety and a bohemian charm to the look whereas a pair of statement earrings by Unbaked adds a bold touch. The make-up consisted of a fresh, dewy day time look with a gorgeous maroon lip and beach waves.
And that’s all we have for this blog post. We hope this will provide you with some inspiration and motivation to use your creativity which can be challenging during such difficult times.
It is not easy to concentrate or carry on with our daily work and duties when there is so much suffering all around, it is natural to feel helpless.
But the night is darkest before the dawn and we need to find some source of motivation to get by and eventually thrive. We’re all in this together, even if it is just virtually for now.
The point is to do whatever one can, even if that includes just taking care of our mental health and being there for others.
