A blast from the past, 1920’s edition!
Fashion is all about expression. It is about comfort and what makes you feel good. Looking good ought to make you feel good, and we would grab any opportunity for the same. Similarly, coming out of World War I, the 1920’s was a time when people were looking for ways to escape the doom and gloom of the great war. Women carved their liberation too, in clothes, hair, make-up, and more importantly from various gender-conforming roles.
For this shoot, we have tried to reproduce that comfort by indulging in glamour and opulence, inspired by the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel and iconic film adaptation, The Great Gatsby set in the New York of 20’s.
For our first look, Rinima looks uber glamorous in a shimmery sequined black evening gown. The look and the set-up were reminiscent of the attitude and the personality of “the flapper girl”.
An alluring dress, with some white wine, an over-the-top studded headpiece, and a nonchalance like never before. This strapless black dress with cutouts and a thigh-high slit was aided with exuberant accessories. A pearl-studded, beaded layered necklace in the same style as the headpiece complemented with a metallic stone-encrusted clutch gives an effortlessly luxurious vibe.
The bar cabinet in the backdrop with its geometric designs brings in the art deco element to complete the 1920’s aesthetic.
Rinima brings Daisy Buchanan, from the Great Gatsby, to life in the second look of this shoot. She is wearing an ultra-sheer, embellished flapper dress with a thigh-high slit.
A perfect piece to dance the night away in. The much-famed long pearl necklace inspired by Coco Chanel is represented in this look with an edgy, contemporary string of silver and gold toned pearls.
The pièce de résistance of this look is the feather head ornament and the feather hand fan handcrafted for the shoot.
And the last look of this shoot was all about wearing a bold color to have all eyes on you! A beaded strapless, bodysuit with a long cape in flaming red is a showstopper any day.
The side-parted faux bob with flat hair crimped with bob pins would fit perfectly in a bar or a saloon of the 20’s America.
A simple string of pearls and pearl drop earrings contrast with the fierceness of this outfit.
We would love to know what that one outfit is that just helps lift your mood and elevate your spirits. That one dress that you would love to be decked up in and just sit at home even if you don’t have anywhere to go. That jazzy, dream look which you intend to bring to life someday very soon.
