Styling Custom Designs by JM
Today I share how 2 outfits were custom made to perfection for me! Find out which of these I crafted myself and how I style these custom designs?
The JM School of Design & Business is an eclectic fashion school in the heart of Bengaluru. It aims to empower people to transform their passion for fashion into a sustainable career, regardless of prior studies or training in fashion.
It was here at JM that a student turned designer Preethi Alex did a client project as part of her course, where she designed and constructed a very special outfit for me, her chosen client. All I had to do was provide her the fabric and she would make whatever I had in mind and the result was an absolute dream come true!
Not to mention the fabric I gave her was very dear to me. It was a gift from my former boss Norman Rene’De Vera Former Head 3D Designer at Celine, London during my internship there. He told me at the time to take this fabric and make something beautiful out of it! And I think Preethi Alex did more than just that! She designed and constructed a white silk adjustable noodle strap peplum crop top with a black satin blend asymmetric pencil skirt with ruffle details. This combination works great from a day to night look. So add in a timeless black clutch, gold drop earrings and some black heels for that added inch of confidence and your good go!
The next outfit is a matching olive two piece set that I designed and constructed myself with the guidance of the JM team. I created this lovely olive noodle strap A-line top with matching culottes which is a perfect outfit for a brunch out or even a evening out for a couple of drinks! Style these with a black ruffled belt for some drama, black and gold strappy heels and some stacked gold cuffs and your good to go!
And that sums up my custom design experience along with some easy and timeless styling tips for the same! Hope you enjoyed this piece from the heart!
